Brian Stolar is a Frequent Supporter of MADD
Brian Stolar supports MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), an organization that helps prevent drunk driving by educating the public about the dangers of driving while drunk. Support from philanthropist like Brian Stolar has enabled the organization to develop an array of programs that prevent youth alcohol use and underage drinking.
MADD is supported by businesses like Pinnacle Companies, educators and even the federal government. One major reason why Brian Stolar is such a serious supporter of this organization is because it has saved so many lives. Mothers Against Drunk Driving has saved more than 300,000 lives since its birth in 1980.
Brian Stolar is also very impressed by the rich history of the organization and how it all began. In the early 1990s, Jan Withers’ (MADD National President) teenage daughter was killed by a drunk driver. This prompted her to campaign to help prevent this violent crime. Her efforts certainly paid off. In Maryland, her campaign decreased the illegal limit of blood alcohol content from .10 BAC to .08 BAC. This federal bill was signed into law in 2000 by President Clinton. Today, MADD supports 1 person every 10 minutes.
According to statistics taken by the Centers for Disease Control, the average drunk driver has driven approximately eighty times before being arrested. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration conducted a study and discovered that one out of three individuals will be involved in a drunk driving related crash at some point in their life.
Here are a few more alarming statistics:
- One out of three 8th grade students drinks alcohol.
- At least 1 person is injured due to a drunk driving accident.
- One out of five teens drink and only one out of 100 parents are aware of it.
- People who start drinking at an early age are seven times more likely to be involved in a drunk driving related car accident.
- Drunk driving costs each tax payer $500 annually in the United States.
Brian Stolar is doing all he can to help prevent drunk driving. He encourages every business owner and individual to educate themselves and their families about the dangers of driving while drunk.
